Rebekka Simon
Dance Teacher & Choreographer
When I was a kid I used to move to any kind of music whenever I found space to dance. My parents recognized and encouraged my passion for dance and brought me to the Palucca University of Dance Dresden, Germany (where I am from). I studied dance there for 6 years including ballet and point work, modern and contemporary dance, jazz and improvisation. During this time I worked with choreographers like John Neumeier, Birgit Scherzer and Hanne Wantke. I also performed in Swan Lake and A Midsummer Night's Dream at Semper Opera House in Dresden.
After seven years working as dancer in Germany, where I performed in various theatrical musicals and dance shows such as “Fame”, “Kiss me Kate”, “Hair”, “Rocky Horror Picture Show”, I moved to Cork City in 2018, where I completed the intermediate ISDT dance course at Coláiste Stiofáin Naoifa. I also joined the Cork Youth Ballet Company during my studies.
Over the last two years I participated in dance master classes with Inma Pavon,
Mathilde Gilhet and James Wilton Dance Company. In 2019, I went to New York to
attend an Intensive Teacher Training Workshop at Martha Graham School, hosted
by Virginie Mecene.
I am also a professional member of the Circus Factory Cork, where I practice Acrobatics and where I provided a Contemporary Floor Work dance class for adults.
I am curious about learning new dance skills and improving my techniques, exploring new movements. I would like to give anyone the opportunity and encouragement to explore themselves through movement and to be at one with space, music and their own body.
